Music played in public royalties

We collect from licensed venues that use music as background entertainment or to enhance their business in any way

How we calculate

Our music researchers collect performance details directly from a statistically valid sample of UK venues. We match this against similar broadcast data that contains many of the same songs. It’s this broadcast data that we can then use to calculate how much we pay our members.

In addition to our general sample group, we use different sample sets for music used for:

  • jukeboxes
  • karaoke
  • gym and fitness classes
  • pubs
  • hotels
  • restaurants
  • shops.

Sometimes, we collect data directly from manufacturers and businesses that install music on systems for public use and pay the related revenue directly across this data.
