Security update on your account
We're enhancing the security of member accounts to give you more protection.
Protecting your music, royalties and data is our priority.
After consultation with our cyber security team, we have taken the decision to enhance the security of member accounts to give you more protection if your personal data is leaked.
Password reset
In the next two weeks, we will trigger a password reset on all member accounts. After the reset, you will be asked to follow the forgotten password process and enter a new password when you attempt to login to your account.
The password reset will be automatically triggered on your account.
Two factor authentication
We are also introducing two-factor authentication for account login at the end of the month. This means you will need to enter a secondary verification code to access your account.
This code will be sent to a phone number of your choice (by text message) after you enter your username and password to login.
Two- factor authentication for login will be enabled automatically on your account.
If you haven’t already set this up to update your bank and address details in your account, you will be directed to set this up when you login.
Keeping your account secure
- Make sure your password is unique and don’t use the same password for other accounts.
- Don’t share your login details or passwords with anyone else.
- Beware of phishing emails: don’t click on any suspicious links asking for your account credentials or unusual requests.
We will never ask you to share your password or banking details with us. If you do receive anything suspicious, please let us know by emailing CyberAlerts@prsformusic.com.
Click the 'Log In' button on the PRS website, then click 'Reset/Forgot my password' and follow the instructions on the page.
You'll need to have access to the email address associated with your PRS online account as we'll send a verification code to that address as part of the reset process.
Yes. All PRS online accounts will have their password reset in the next two weeks, even if you updated it recently. We appreciate this might be inconvenient, but keeping your data secure is our priority.
No, your password is unique to your online user account, so you only need to change your password once.
If you no longer have access to the email address linked to your online account, you won't receive the verification code. You'll need to let us know the correct email address so we can update your account.
For security reasons, we can’t update your email address over the phone. If you need to do this, please email us at memberdetails@prsformusic.com with your:
- Name
- Previous email address linked to your account
- Your new preferred email address
- Your membership (CAE/IPI) number
- Copy of your photo ID for verification purposes
Firstly, please check your junk/spam folder.
If you haven't received the code, click 'resend the code' and make sure you're checking the inbox of the email address associated with your PRS online account. If you still haven't received the code, email us and we'll be happy to help.
For security reasons, the verification code expires after 20 minutes.
Make sure that you're using the email address that is associated with your PRS online account.
If you don't already have an online account, you'll need to request one. You can do this by clicking 'Sign up for an online account' on the login page.
If you're using the correct email address but still can't continue through the reset process, contact us.
From the end of this month, you'll need to enter a verification code every time you log into your online account. This code will be sent by text.
Previously, Two-Factor Authentication was only required for certain, more sensitive sections of your online account, e.g. updating your bank details.
If you've set up Two-Factor Authentication process before, the code will be sent to the number used previously. If you haven't, you'll be prompted to provide your phone number the first time..
No, our verification codes are sent to your phone by text, so you won’t need to download any apps.
If you use a landline number, the text will be converted into a call that reads the verification code out to you.
We can reset your account so that you can enter your new phone number.
For security reasons, we can't reset the phone number associated with your online account over the phone. To do this, please email us at memberdetails@prsformusic.com with your:
- Name
- Email address used for your online account
- Your membership (CAE/IPI) number
- Last four digits of the phone number previously used for verification
- Copy of your photo ID for verification purposes
