Sean Davies to receive MPG recognition award

Sean Davies, an acclaimed studio designer, will be presented with a Special Recognition Award at the Music Producers Guild Awards 2014.

Sean Davies, an acclaimed studio designer and technical engineer, will be presented with a Special Recognition Award at the Music Producers Guild (MPG) Awards 2014.

The renowned audio consultant, who has enjoyed a career  in the music business stretching 53 years, will be presented with the prize at the MPG awards on 13 February.

Sean’s company - SW Davies - has been a market leader in maintaining high quality disc-cutting lathes and supporting cutting facilities.

Ray Staff, of the MPG's Mastering Group which nominated Sean Davies for the award, said: ‘I am so pleased Sean is receiving this acknowledgment. He has been my mentor for over 40 years.

‘Sean is a generous educator, gifted with the ability to explain often complex theories, simply and clearly. His skills and knowledge have benefited every aspect of recording, mastering, manufacturing and design. He is a truly unique man in our industry.’

Previously, Trevor Horn, acclaimed producer and hitmaker, was announced as the winner of an MPG Outstanding Contribution to UK Music award.
