Lazy Day (pictured), Tamzene, Maya Kally, The Van T’s and Magick Mountain are the latest acts to be chosen for Festival Republic and PRS Foundation's ReBalance programme, which provides a step-up for female led bands and solo artists in live music.
The three-year programme provides recording time to a UK based core-female band, female musician or female solo artist, as well as travel, accommodation and access to mentors. They will also receive a performance slot at a Live Nation or Festival Republic festival.
Garage pop London four-piece Lazy Day have been chosen for the second round, along with soulful singer-songwriters Maya Kally and Tamzene, surf-pop Glasgow quartet The Van T’s and purveyors of fuzz, Magick Mountain.
PRS Foundation chief executive Vanessa Reed and Festival Republic’s Melvin Benn and Lucy Wood oversee the quarterly selection panels, which earlier this year saw Æ MAK, Mary Miller and Projector chosen for the first round.
The panels include a rotating pool of industry experts including Nadine Shah, music journalist Alexis Petridis, Natti Shiner from Fickle Friends, CODA Agency’s Natasha Bent, Stephen Bass from Moshi Moshi and award-winning producer Mandy Parnell.
