For this week's playlist, we're digging deep into the stellar line-up of the inaugural We Out Here Festival.

Joining the musical dots between soul, hip-hop, dub, afro, electronica, jazz and beyond, this out-there event combines cutting-edge live music with some of the best record collections in the world.

Gilles Peterson, Mr Scruff, Theo Parrish and Awesome Tapes from Africa are among those heading up the long list of selectors, while new British jazz aces Theon Cross, Nubya Garcia and Moses Boyd bring their trademark eclecticism and anything-goes approach.

The four-day bonanza also boasts psychedelic sounds from far and wide, with Ethiopian keyboard and accordion master Hailu Mergia and Sun Ra-inspired Idris Ackamoor and the Pyramids also slated to play.

Dubbed a ‘worldwide family gathering’ by its organisers, We Out Here surely promises one of the most sonically diverse line-ups of the British festival season and we can’t wait to head up there.

Feeling inspired? Dig into our playlist to get a feel for what’s in store…
