PRS for Music took part in the music industry blackout on 2 June to raise awareness of the Black Lives Matter movement and to provoke discussion, debate and meaningful change.

PRS write: ‘PRS for Music and the UK is culturally richer and more vibrant because of the contribution and creativity of Black songwriters, composers and publishers. The awful events in the US clearly demonstrate that we all need to do more to tackle the issues this community face.

‘That includes us as a membership organisation. We stand in solidarity with you, our members, as well as the wider Black community in the UK and around the world, against all forms of racism, bigotry and prejudice.

‘Through sharing the thoughts and experiences of our membership, we hope that we can encourage positive change. With that, we are inviting you to send in video messages so that we can amplify your voices.’

PRS put a call out to its members, inviting them to share some words in support of movement and were inundated with responses.

Below, we have rounded up some of the messages that you might not have seen.
