Commercial Sync licensing application complete

This is the MCPS Commercial Sync Licensing service. Please use this service if you need to license the use of a specific musical work which has been commercially released in a production or product.

MCPS hold the mandate to license specific musical works for use in productions and products on behalf of many of our Music Publisher and Composer members. Where we don’t hold the mandate, we will put you in touch with the relevant people who can license it to you direct. You can apply to license a specific musical work in premiums/promotional products, multimedia products, TV/radio ads, novelty products and for some online uses.

1. If you would like to use a specific composition which is not covered by an MCPS licensing schemes (covered at 3 below):

Fees are negotiated on a case by case basis and will be subject to publisher/ rights holder approval. Please note that for commercial music (i.e. music that has been commercially released e.g. as a single or album track by a recording artist) we are only able to issue you with a license for the use of the composition. If you are using a recording of a track, you will also need to seek permission for the master rights from PPL who can be contacted on 0207 534 1000.

2. If you would like to license some music and don’t have a specific composition in mind:-

You may find it helpful to investigate the MCPS Production Music library. Production music is a high quality and cost-effective alternative to using commercial music. The clearance process is a straightforward online process and there are no copyright owner permissions to be obtained.
