MCPS Chair Jackie Alway OBE first-ever woman elected Chair of International Confederation of Music Publishers
Jackie Alway OBE, Executive VP of International Legal & Industry Affairs at Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) has been elected as the first woman to hold the role of Chair at the International Confederation of Music Publishers (ICMP) and will help represent the international interests of the music publishing community, effective June 3, 2021. ICMP acts as the global voice of music publishing and is the global trade association representing music publishers, composers and songwriters.
Jackie’s role at UMPG includes multi-territory digital licensing, public policy and society relations. She was awarded an OBE for her service to the music industry in 2019. She is the Chair of the MCPS and also serves on the boards of PMLL, PRS for Music, MPA Ireland and MCPS Ireland and was recently featured in Billboard’s International Power Players list 2021.
Jackie succeeds outgoing Chair Chris Butler (Wise Music) who has served in this position since 2017 and so will be the second successive UK publisher to be appointed as Chair of ICMP. This is a phenomenal achievement for Jackie and the UK MPA and the MPA Group looks forward to seeing Jackie excel in her new role.
