Warner Chappell Music signs Afro B

The music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, Warner Chappell Music, has inked a worldwide deal with UK songwriter, DJ and producer Afro B.

The music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, Warner Chappell Music, has inked a worldwide deal with UK songwriter, DJ and producer Afro B.

The afrowave pioneer has helped spread the genre – which comprises African pop, rap and dancehall – across the UK alongside contemporaries J Hus Kojo Funds and Yxng Bane.

His single Drogba (Joanna) spent three months on BBC 1Xtra’s A-list and has achieved international success.

The track was also officially reworked by Africa star Wizkid and was later remixed by French Montana.

Afro B, real name Ross Bayeto, was born in Greenwich, South London to parents from the Ivory Coast and released his first single Oh My in 2013.

He’s has subsequent success with his breakout hit Baba God, his collaboration with US rapper Wale, Stay Winning, and had a UK hit with Juice & Power, a collaboration with Yxng Bane.

Afro B also hosts a weekly UK radio show on Capital XTRA every Saturday from 11pm to 1am, where he champions African music.
