Virgin Records to celebrate 40 Years of Disruption

Laura Mvula, Jake Bugg and Bastille are to help Virgin Records mark their 40th anniversary by performing as part of a series of live gigs.

Laura Mvula, Jake Bugg and Bastille are to help Virgin Records mark their 40th anniversary by performing as part of a series of live gigs.

Richard Branson set up the business back in 1973 and will mark the occasion with a series of live events, new releases as well as a documentary and new art book detailing the label’s history.

Laura Marling will kick off Virgin's 40 Years of Disruptions series with a show at York Hall in London’s Bethnal Green on 3 October. Jazzie B and Soul II Soul will conclude the live series with a gig at KOKO in Camden on 12 November.

Meanwhile Virgin Atlantic is planning on staging mini-gigs on domestic flights on the new Little Red internal airline.

The flights will go from London Heathrow to Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Manchester with the names of all acts kept under wraps until the flights set off.
