UK recording studios top World’s Best list

London’s Abbey Road Studios and Air Studios have topped a global list of top recording venues around the world.

London’s Abbey Road Studios and Air Studios have topped a global list of top recording venues around the world.

Abbey Road, which facilitated some of The Beatles’ greatest ever recordings including Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, is officially the world’s best, according to Billboard.

Air Studios, which was established by the band’s legendary producer George Martin in 1969, is next.

Other UK facilities to make an appearance in the magazine’s Top 25 are Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios at number 16 and West London stalwart Metropolis Studios at number 18.

PRS for Music and the Country Music Association came together at Abbey Road earlier this week to host a songwriting camp featuring top UK and Nashville writers, artists and producers.

The event marked the first time UK and US writers have convened on UK soil, with top drawer hitmakers Wayne Hector (One Direction, Little Mix, Nicki Minaj) and Starsmith penning with Nashville's finest Randy Houser and Eric Paslay. Read more.
