Hit songwriter Ben Ash (aka Two Inch Punch) has just extended his agreement with Sony/ATV to cover his entire song catalogue.

The deal covers tracks including the number one single Money on My Mind, written with and recorded by Sam Smith, plus songs recorded by artists including Rag n Bone Man, Jake Bugg and Years & Years.

Ash (top middle) is currently one of the UK’s most in-demand songwriters and producers, who’s also worked with Damon Albarn, Lianne La Havas, James Vincent McMorrow, Tinashe and Jessie Ware among others.

After initially putting out a series of releases under the recording name Two Inch Punch, including his debut single Love You Up, Ash began writing and producing for other artists, including then rising stars Smith and Rag n Bone Man.

He co-wrote several songs on the latter’s debut album Human as well as producing the title track, which reached number two in the UK and won British Single of the Year at the 2018 BRIT Awards.

More recently, Ash has been writing with and developing UK songwriter and recording artist Rex Orange County who in January was announced as the runner-up on the BBC Sound of 2018 poll.

Ash said of the deal: ‘I really appreciate Sony/ATV having faith in me again. I’ve always had a great relationship with the UK team, including Guy, David, Alice, Sarah and Alastair. More recently, the LA team, including Amanda and Nick, have been so amazing, too. I really appreciate them all and I hope I can reward their faith. So excited for the next couple of years!’

Guy Moot, Sony/ATV UK managing director and president, worldwide creative, added: ‘We are thrilled to continue this relationship with such a hugely talented producer and songwriter.’

Sony/ATV’s head of A&R, UK, David Ventura also commented: ‘We could not be happier! Working with Ben for the last few years has been tremendously inspiring. He is without a doubt one of the hottest writer/producers in the country and his track record speaks for itself.

‘Alongside his work with established international artists, Ben has a gift for recognising and developing emerging songwriter talent, which is incredible. On behalf of everyone here in the UK and in the US, we are over the moon to continue our adventure with Ben and his team.’
