Saxophonist and composer Trish Clowes has launched a new Kickstarter campaign to commission new works for the next instalment of her Emulsion Festival.

She is hoping to premiere new works from composer-pianists Nikki Iles and Robert Mitchell at the Emulsion VI event, which returns to Shrewsbury in June.

In addition to the commissioning costs, money raised will go towards the preparation, rehearsal and performance of these new works. Any funds raised beyond £2,000 will contribute to the more general overheads of the Emulsion VI festival.

So far, Clowes has commissioned 15 new works for the festival over the last six years, including a piece from Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian, Muted Lines, which won a British Composer Award in 2017.

Clowes founded Emulsion in 2012, with saxophonist Tom Harrison joining as artistic director in 2016. Activities so far have included three London-based festivals, a professional development course for musicians, a residency at Cheltenham Music Festival and a festival in Birmingham, many of which have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
