Streetwise Opera is offering an opportunity for five composers to become the composers in residence for its five UK groups.

The initiative, which is supported by the PRS for Music Foundation, will provide opera development opportunities for emerging or mid-career composers looking to compose for opera.

Streetwise Opera is an opera production company that works with people who have experienced homelessness as well as other members of the community.

Each composer in residence will develop a short (up to five minutes) operatic chorus for performance in early 2017.

A composer will be appointed for each of the cities Streetwise Opera works in - London, Manchester, Middlesbrough, Newcastle/Gateshead and Nottingham.

To apply please send a CV, two work examples (link to a recording and/or electronic score; ideally both), plus a one-page cover letter outlining where you work and your suitability for the project by midnight on 8 June to admin@streetwiseopera.org.

A selection panel will shortlist individuals for interview. The panel will include Matt Peacock (artistic director, Streetwise Opera), Mark Oldfield (artistic director of workshops, Streetwise Opera), Naomi Belshaw (grants and programmes manager, PRS for Music Foundation).
