Songkick is expanding its new fan-funded gig platform Detour across ten more UK cities.

The technology enables fans to pledge funds on artists they want to see come to their city. Then Songkick works with local promoters to try and ensure the gig goes ahead.

Detour is now available in Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Coventry, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Nottingham, Manchester and Sheffield.

Ian Hogarth, Songkick CEO and co-founder, said: ‘At the heart of Detour is a belief that true fans can help their favourite artists come to their city sooner by helping to reduce the risk associated with touring and putting on shows.

‘Rather than leaving a comment on Facebook or Twitter, Detour lets fans step up and say - If you come to my city, I’m in.’

Since the launch of the initiative, Songkick has helped more than 1,000 artists stage gigs.

The likes of Zoe Keating, GOAT, Aziz Ansari and Television have been among the diverse range of performers to play shows with the help of the platform.
