You Me at Six, the Music Managers Forum and Wildlife Entertainment will be among those giving evidence against ticket touts at a one-off session held by the Culture, Media and Sport Committee.
Taking place at the House of Commons on 15 November, the event will see a number of music industry experts, businesses and representatives coming together to discuss the secondary ticket market.
The session will examine the purchasing of tickets from primary sellers’ online sites, then the re-selling of them at inflated prices to the detriment of fans, artists and organisers.
Josh Franceshi from You Me At Six, Ian McAndrew from Wildlife Entertainment and Annabella Coldrick from the Music Managers Forum will all contribute.
Chris Edmonds, Ticketmaster UK chairman, Alasdair McGowan, head of public affairs/government relations at eBay and Paul Peak, head of legal (Europe) at StubHub will also be speaking.
During the public bill committee stage of the Digital Economy Bill, an amendment was tabled with the intention of making it an offence to use ‘digital purchasing software’ to purchase an excessive number of tickets.
The amendment was withdrawn at that stage but another could be re-tabled during the bill’s passage through Parliament.
