Electronic producer Scanner has joined forces with Heritage Orchestra and visual artist Matt Watkins to rework the music of Joy Division.

The Live_Transmission: Joy Division Reworked tour hits the road this September and October, showcasing its electro-orchestral reinterpretation of the cult Manchester band’s classic guitar motifs and drum riffs.

The show pivots around the ferocity of drummer Adam Betts, guitarist Matt Calvert (both members of instrumental noise-rock band Three Trapped Tigers) and bassist John Calvert (Ghostpoet).

Meanwhile conductor Jules Buckley uses the strings, brass, voices and percussion of the Heritage Orchestra to collide against Scanner’s electronic score.

The 11-date tour kicks off at the Royal Festival Hall, London, on 21 September and closes at The Sage, Gateshead on 2 October. For a full list of dates and to buy tickets, visit http://www.joydivisionreworked.com/tickets/.

The project’s concept and creative producer Laura Ducceschi said: The concept of Live_Transmission came from fixating on the intensity and beauty of Joy Division’s Atmosphere.

‘Rather than attempting to recreate Joy Division songs, it is a project that that steps into new terrain whilst paying homage to the punk, poetic, visual and experimental band that was Joy Division.’
