Sam Carter and Catherine MacLellan, an Anglo-Canadian folk duo, have announced details of a forthcoming UK tour.

The collaboration is part of the English Folk Dance and Song Society’s (EFDSS) Artist Development Programme, in partnership with Music Prince Edward Island (PEI).

The pair will perform songs they wrote when Sam journeyed to Catherine’s hometown of PEI in September 2012 for a week-long residency.

Previously, Sam was awarded the Horizon Award for best newcomer at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and has been an Emerging Artist In Residence at London’s Southbank. He released his second album, No Testament, in August 2012.

Catherine has enjoyed some success in her home country, having reached number one in the iTunes Canada Roots charts and been a four times winner at the Music PEI Awards.

The initiative is part of the EFDSS artists’ development work for folk artists in international markets.

In 2013 EFDSS is partnering with Folk Music Canada on a further exchange programme. English folk artist Bella Hardy will travel to Alberta in September to collaborate with Canadian artist Cara Luft.
