Conductor Robert Ames (pictured), electronic artist Actress and the London Contemporary Orchestra (LCO) are teaming up to host the first ever Prom at the Tate Modern.
In a link-up with BBC Radio 3’s new music series Open Ear, cutting-edge experimental music from Actress will sit side-by-side with brand new sounds from the LCO.
The bill also features a new work by Catherine Lamb, Cassandra Miller’s folk-inspired Guide performed by vocal ensemble Exaudi, and Rodrigo Constanzo’s dynamic performances with light and sound.

It marks Ames’ first involvement with the Proms, and the first time such an event has been hosted at The Tanks. However, the conductor and LCO co-founder has previous form with Actress, plus other leftfield acts including Radiohead, Frank Ocean and Mica Levi.
With the LCO he’s performed and hosted events at Latitude Festival, the Royal Albert Hall’s Loading Bay (the first ever gig in this space), the disused Aldwych Tube Station and East London’s Oval Space.
His aim is to spring classical music from the limitations of traditional concert formats and environments, and to connect with diverse new audiences.
