Tom Searle, guitarist and songwriter in Brighton band Architects, has sadly passed away from cancer aged 28.
Dan, Tom’s brother and drummer in the band, broke the news on the group’s Facebook page, revealing that his brother had been ‘living with the disease’ for the past three years.
In a Facebook post, Dan said: ‘He was an incredible songwriter and guitarist. He was my closest and oldest friend. He was a funny, intelligent and sweet man and he leaves an enormous void in all of our lives.’
According to the band, Tom was absent from numerous shows over the past 15 months as he underwent various surgeries to try and treat the cancer.
‘He spent the last two months of his life fighting with everything he had to overcome the disease once and for all, and things appeared to be moving in the right direction, but in the last two weeks it suddenly took a turn for the worse and finally he left us,’ Dan said.
All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us is the band’s latest and seventh album.
The band will continue on their tour with a UK and European headline slot starting in October and will travel to Australia in a few weeks
A webpage has been sent up to receive donations to The Martlets Hospice in Hove which looked after the musician during his final days.
