PRS for Music are joining forces with The BRIT School’s music department to help inspire and support the next generation of songwriters, composers and producers.

The partnership will enable The BRIT School to remain free to all performing and creative arts students, helping to ensure that talent from all backgrounds can be nurtured at the institution.

The collaboration officially launched yesterday (7 May) with Chroma, two nights of original music created by The BRIT School’s Year 12 Music students.

The live showcase at Stanley Arts in South Norwood, one of south London's leading arts and performance venues, forms part of the current music course at The BRIT School. Students are also taught the creative process first-hand, from inspiration through to final work and live show, and encouraged to develop their understanding of the craft of songwriting, performing and collaboration.

As part of this new partnership, the PRS team will participate in a series of talks at The BRIT School in which they will share their professional expertise and knowledge of the music industry.

The partnership will help further build on The BRIT School's strong history of enabling the next generation of songwriters and musicians to thrive. The school has always put careers at the centre of its mission, with almost 100% of its students transitioning into paid opportunities in employment, education or training within three months of graduating.
