Cult punks the Pocket Gods have announced the release of 100 X 30, a protest record featuring 100 songs all 30 seconds long.

The release, which will come out on 4 December, is a described as a protest against music streaming companies who they claim pay out a royalty of 0.007p per stream for any track 30 seconds and over.

According to the band, the release is to highlight the debate around the amount of royalties reaching artists and songwriters from new platforms.

The Pocket Gods were discovered by the late John Peel and have recently been championed by Tom Robinson from BBC 6 Music.

100 x 30 will be the band's 72nd album in their seventeen year history.

The album features an array of friends and fans of the band including seventies pop star Mungo Jerry and ambient music pioneer Tom Green.
