Off The Record, a new music conference and festival curated by the likes of Guy Garvey, Huw Stephens and the PRS for Music Foundation’s Joe Frankland, is to debut in Manchester from November.

The new event, organised by Sound City, Kendal Calling, bluedot and Louder Than War, will take place on 4 November in multiple venues across Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

A day of panels and conference sessions will take place at the Methodist Central Hall with label and publishing A&R, agents, tech start ups, music bloggers and promoters all among the speakers.

New bands and artists will then perform in six venues across the city in the evening. The line up will be compiled by the likes of Guy Garvey, Huw Stephens and Joe Frankland from PRS for Music Foundation. However, it will not be revealed until 24 hours before the event begins.

Dave Pichilingi, Sound City chief executive officer, said: ‘We’ll be keeping the line up top secret until the morning of the event because we know that you trust us and we trust you to be interested in the future and welcome to join our urban festival where the accent is on the new and not the comfy cushion of the old.'

John Robb from Louder Than War added: ‘As a music fan who listens to new music all the time and loves the way music culture has fast forwarded into the 21st century I am thrilled to be part of this new music conference that puts Manchester back at the centre of UK music. There is so much great new music not only to talk about and listen to but also to discuss how we get to listen to it and encourage it into the future.’

Conference details have been confirmed with panels to include Summer of Love, an exploration of the UK festival season, How To Be Heard Over The Noize! with music journalists and tastemakers offering guidance to new bands on how to stand out, plus Sentric Music’s director of music services, Simon Pursehouse, providing tips on how to get your music placed in an advert.
