Neil Young offers $1,000 cover version prize

Singer songwriter Neil Young is offering a prize of $1,000 for the best cover version of an American classic featured on his new album, Americana.

Singer songwriter Neil Young is offering a prize of $1,000 for the best cover version of an American classic featured on his new album, Americana.

The choice of songs available to cover are: Oh Susannah, Clementine, Tom Dula, Gallows Pole, Get A Job, Travel On, High Flyin' Bird, Jesus' Chariot, This Land Is Your Land, Wayfarin' Stranger and God Save The Queen.

The winner will be chosen by Young with the chosen song featured on the singer's social media channels in addition to receiving $1,000 cash. All the submitted songs will be posted on www.talenthouse.com where fans will be able to vote on their favorite. The entry which receives the most number of votes will receive a copy of the American album and $500 cash.

The competition is open now.The submission deadline is 4 June, with the voting phase taking place between 5-11 June. The winner will be announced on 25 June 2012.
