MCPS has unveiled new production music rates for independent television production company licences for productions on or after 2 January 2015.

The new rates offer better value for music rights and have been developed via negotiations between MCPS, Pact, the television production community and PRS for Music.

Jane Dyball, chief executive of MCPS said: As part of our overhaul of music licensing, we have recognised that our licences need to meet the increasingly sophisticated demands of the television production marketplace.

‘We have been working closely with our partners, such as Pact, to develop new rates which meet the industry’s requirement for simple licences offering multiple rights. Our mantra going forward is ‘more rights, in more repertoire, more easily’. This is our first step towards ensuring our goal becomes a reality.’

The new rates include £70 for a single cue and £150 for a single track. They offer fixed price series deals and competitive annual deals covering all media, worldwide rights while providing a wide choice of high quality production music.
