Kate Rusby, Steve Knightley and Emily Smith are among the folk artists to perform as part of Cecil Sharp House’s new season.

BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominees David Gibb and Elly Lucas on 16 January will kick off the latest programme of gigs and concerts organised by the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS).

Kate Rusby will make her Cecil Sharp House debut on 26 April while Show of Hands frontman Steve Knightley brings his solo Grow Your Own Gig to the venue on 6 February.

Neil Pearson, EFDSS programming manager, said: ‘The new season has number of one-off shows that you won’t be able to see anywhere else. I am delighted that we can offer people the chance to experience these unique performances at the home of English folk.

‘The programme has an interesting mix of some of the most highly regarded folk musicians such as Steve Knightley, Kate Rusby and John Spiers to the younger upcoming artists like David Gibb and Elly Lucas, so there is something for everyone.’

The Patsy Reid Band and Lucy Ward are some of the other artists scheduled to perform.
