Composers Mike Stubbs, Huw Morgan and Danny Saleeb have won JAM’s annual Call For Music 2016.

Their works - Today, Tonight and Forever (choir and organ), Dance (organ) and As de Canter (choir) respectively - will premiere at JAM’s 2016 season opening night.

They will be accompanied by the world premiere of Kiss the Sun, a trumpet duet created by rapidly rising British composer Jonathan Woolgar.

The event takes place on 17 March at St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street, London.

JAM’s 2015 commission The Voices of our Ancestors by Thea Musgrave will also be revisited on the night, alongside Judith Bingham’s award-winning 2006 commission, My Heart Strangely Warm’d.

The concert will be performed by the Chapel Choir of Selwyn College (Cambridge), Onyx Brass, Simon Hogan (organ) and soloists; Stephanie Corley (soprano), Annie Gill (mezzo), Andrew Radley (counter-tenor), Ashley Catling (tenor) and Omar Ebrahim (bass).

Ed Armitage, JAM chairman and artistic director, said: ‘I am delighted to be launching our 2016 season with such a variety of works, sound and composers, ranging from the burgeoning, young talent to amazing commissions by two of the UK’s bastions of contemporary music, Thea Musgrave and Judith Bingham. This will be a night to remember!’

Each autumn JAM runs a nationwide Call for Music inviting emerging composers to submit music for performance in its next season of concerts. This time round, the organisation said it received 120 works for consideration.

JAM launched in 2010 and is committed to nurturing, commissioning, promoting and performing new music in the UK. It has performed nearly 60 new works and commissioned some of the UK’s most important composers including Judith Bingham, Jonathan Dove, Gabriel Jackson, Paul Mealor, John McCabe, Tarik O’Regan and Paul Patterson.
