Jackie Alway has been named as the new chairwoman of the Music Publishers Association (MPA) following elections by the MPA board.

Jackie, who is a board member of the MPA, MCPS, PMLL and PRS for Music, will take up this new position from 1 July 2015 and replace outgoing chair Chris Butler. He has been in the role since 2008.

The incoming postholder is Universal Music Publishing’s VP International Legal and Industry Affairs, having joined the company in 2007.

Jackie said: ‘I love being a music publisher and love the work that the MPA does for music publishers. I will be proud to represent music publishers as chair of the MPA.

‘I look forward to working with Jane, the MPA team and my friends and colleagues on the board and throughout the industry to build on the MPA’s achievements to date. Nationally, regionally and globally there has never been a more important time for us all to stand together to defend the rights of creators and right holders and the business we love.’

The MPA AGM will take place on Wednesday 1 July at the Royal Institution in London.
