Independent Venue Week (IVW) takes place from Monday 27 January to Sunday 2 February across more than 230 independent UK venues.

The seven-day celebration is designed to champion the independent venue’s importance to the nation’s culture and identity through those that own, work and play in them.

With more than 800 gigs set to place throughout the UK, the BBC 6 Homecoming Tour with Steve Lamacq (Anna Calvi, Nadine Shah, Frank Turner, Self Esteem, Gryff Rhys) will form a key part of the programme.

The tour will conclude on Friday 31 January at The Windmill in Brixton where his 6 Music show will be broadcast live and Anna Calvi will perform an intimate set.

Anna Calvi’s show at The Windmill Brixton will be available via ballot here.

Meanwhile, in the week leading up to event, the IVW documentary The Long and Winding Road, with Philip Selway (Radiohead), will be released alongside its second live record featuring Cancer Bats, Pip Blom and Public Service Broadcasting.

Further announcements for IVW 2020 are expected soon, including details of The ‘Big Jeff’ Tour, with former ambassador and fabled gig-goer ‘Big Jeff’ (Jeffery Johns).

The tour will take Johns all over the UK to meet communities around venues to highlight what it means to attend gigs as someone with a disability.

IVW is funded in partnership with Arts Council England, Arts Council Wales, PRS For Music, Creative Scotland, BBC 6 Music, BBC Sounds, Fred Perry, Harman, Musicians Union, PPL, Yamaha and Yorkshire Tea.
