Your winter 2016 issue of M magazine is now out. Read it here…

This issue we chat to pop provocateur Vince Clarke about life at the forefront of British electronic pop. He tells us about what keeps him making music and why the time is now for synth exploration.

We also spend some time with folk icon Shirley Collins, alongside other leading acoustic lights, to find out what songwriters can learn from our ancient folk vernacular. Contributors include Emily Portman, Folklore Tapes’ David Chatton Barker, Magpahi and 9Bach.

Elsewhere, Madness frontman Suggs gives us the lowdown on heading up one of London's most quintessential bands, avoiding the black hole of eighties nostalgia and how they came back with a top five album.

We also hear from outgoing PRS chairman Guy Fletcher on five successful decades in the music business and learn from composing ace John Rutter on his classical milestones.

This issue we also look back on all the songwriting talent we’ve lost in 2016 and ask the publishers tasked with managing their work, what happens next?

Our regular slots include interviews with reggae legend Eddy Grant, jazz guru Laura Jurd and rising PRS for Music Foundation-supported talents Luke Styles and Elsa Hewitt.
