Irish collecting society IMRO has appointed ICE to oversee its online licensing and administration activities.
ICE, the joint venture established by PRS for Music and European collecting societies GEMA (Germany) and STIM (Sweden), will license IMRO members’ rights alongside its existing repertoire and the rights of independent music publishers including Concord, Downtown and Peermusic.
Seán Donegan, IMRO commercial director for media licensing, said: ‘Partnering with ICE directly ensures that IMRO stays at the forefront of the growing digital marketplace at a crucial time.
‘This partnership will expedite the payment of digital royalties to IMRO members, at the most competitive rates possible, thus shortening and simplifying the digital royalty chain.
‘The use of ICE’s cutting-edge business intelligence tools will enhance IMRO's online monitoring, providing additional insight into how often, on what platforms, and in which countries, consumers are enjoying an ever popular and growing IMRO repertoire.’

To date, the organisation has processed trillions of online music uses from streaming services and paid over €930m (£828m) back to rightsholders.
