Classical Music magazine has launched a survey to evaluate opinion of mental health support in the music industry.

The survey forms part of the publication’s Harmony in Mind campaign, which is designed to encourage every classical music industry body to deliver a supportive working environment where mental health is destigmatised.

The campaign acknowledges what a challenging place the music industry can be to work in, with many industry freelance employees on low and irregular pay in addition to long and anti-social hours.

Help Musicians UK recently conducted a study that found that 71 percent of respondents had experienced anxiety and panic attacks and 65 percent reported they had suffered from depression.

Classical Music is calling on musicians, composers, PRs, music journalists, artist managers, music administrators, music teachers to give their opinion in their perception poll.

They hope that the results will give a better understanding of the state of mental health provision across the sector, and results will be shared in October.

The closing date to fill out the survey is 18 September.
