Sir Mark Elder and Jonas Kaufmann are among the winners of this year’s Gramophone Awards.
The winners will be presented with their awards at a special event at LSO St Luke’s on 17 September.
According to organisers, the winners were chosen from an initial list of over 800 and voted for by specialist critics.
James Jolly, editor-in-chief of Gramophone, told Classic FM news: ‘These 11 category recordings honour the most outstanding international releases of the past year and have been chosen through a gruelling process of listening and judging by Gramophone’s expert critics who have narrowed the list down from more than 800 new releases. If music lovers are looking for the best of the best, than these are the ones to buy.’
Winners of other categories including recording of the year, artist of the year, young artist of the year, label of the year and the Lifetime Achievement Award will be announced at the event in September.
