Singer-songwriter Gerry Rafferty has died from liver disease. He was 63.

The artist began his career busking before forming The Humblebums with comedian Billy Connolly, releasing two acclaimed albums on transatlantic Records. Rafferty then formed Stealer's Wheel with Joe Egan. Despite being stifled by legal problems, the band had a big hit with Stuck In The Middle With You, which was later revived by its prominent appearance in the Quentin Tarantino film Reservoir Dogs in 1992.

As a solo artist, Rafferty had his biggest hit, Baker Street which reached the top 3 on both sides of the Atlantic and is still a staple of rock radio to this day. Its parent album City to City sold over 5.5 million copies.

Rafferty passed away at home on January 4 with his daughter Martha by his side.
