Rising London grime MC Elf Kid and UK rapper Nadia Rose will be taking UK urban sounds to the Rio Olympics, performing at the London Soundtrack showcase.

The British Underground event takes place at British House on Sunday 14 August as part of London’s Soundtrack celebration, an event celebrating the city’s cultural and creative industries.

The pair will be joined London producers and DJs Chase & Status and Logan Sama.

Elf Kid said: ‘It’s a privilege to be a part of British Underground’s Grime Showcase at British House – Grime music is thriving at the moment and for Sadiq Khan to make it the focus of London’s celebration of culture this year at the Olympics - it’s incredible. Myself, Nadia and Logan are very proud to be representing and showcasing the grime sound out in Rio.’

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, said: ‘Elf Kid, Nadia and Logan will show the world how grime music represents London’s diverse culture. I hope these incredible young people will inspire others to make the best of what our great city has to offer and encourage the world to invest in London’s thriving cultural and creative industries.

British Underground have been doing an excellent job exporting British music to important international showcases across the world for the last 15 years and this event in Rio demonstrates very clearly that London is Open for business.’

This the first time a grime music themed event has ever been hosted at an international Olympics - British Underground’s Grime Showcase, which follows Dizzee Rascal’s performance at the London Olympics Opening Ceremony in 2012.
