Traditional British folk musician Martin Simpson and American guitar and banjo player Dom Flemons are to collaborate on a new musical project.
The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) has commissioned the pair to spend three days working together at London’s Cecil Sharp House to create new folk music rooted in their respective English and American traditions.
According to the organisation, the duo will use the archives at the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library at Cecil Sharp House - including Cecil Sharp’s landmark folk music fieldwork notebooks and diaries - as inspiration for their work.
The commission, in association with WOMAD, is supported by the PRS for Music Foundation.
Visit the EFDSS website to find out more.
The three days will culminate with a brief tour - check out the full dates below;
23 July: Cecil Sharp House, London
24 July: Norwich Arts Centre, Norwich
25 July: Ropetackle Arts Centre, Shoreham by Sea
26 July: WOMAD, Malmesbury, Wiltshire
