UK singer songwriter Ed Sheeran has achieved another milestone, this time being named as Spotify’s most influential musician under 25.

The music streaming and subscription service’s 25 under 25 named Ed as top with Sam Smith in third and Disclosure coming in at sixth in the list.

According to Spotify, the chart ranks artists on a range of factors including number-one hits, volume and growth of streams over the past year, as well as their performance on the Spotify viral chart.

Shanon Cook, Spotify's digital trends expert, said: ‘Spotify's 25 under 25 list for 2015 reflects the future of the music industry.

'The popular Ed Sheeran leads the pack, but it's also exciting to see an abundance of female artists featured with 11 of the top 25 spots, which is a nice increase from last year's list.’

Ed holds the record as the most-streamed artist of 2014 and most-streamed song of all time with his hit, Thinking Out Loud.
