The PRS Foundation-funded She Drew The Gun have been named as winners of the GIT Awards 2017 in Liverpool.

The band, led by chief songwriter Louisa Roach, won the sixth GIT Award prize on Saturday 13 May, taking home £1,000 and studio recording time at Parr Street Studios.

She Drew The Gun have seen a rapid rise over the past 18 months, winning the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition, releasing their debut album Memories of Another Future and recently playing SXSW in Texas thanks in part to backing from the PRS Foundation.

Peter Guy, GIT Award founder, said: 'She Drew The Gun are fitting, and hugely popular winners.

'They've sold out shows for Liverpool Music Week, toured the country relentlessly - and all the while remaining steadfastly supportive of the Merseyside music community. I’m delighted for Louisa and the band as they’re genuinely top, top people and a great band with so much more to offer.'

Past GIT Award winners include the Loved Ones (2012), Baltic Fleet (2013), Forest Swords (2014), All We Are (2015) and Bill Ryder-Jones (2016).

Emerging songwriter and artist Zuzu was named as winner of The GIT Award 2017 One to Watch.

She joins the likes of Taya, Louis Berry and Lápsley in collecting the prize.
