Conrad Withey, former president of Warner Music Entertainment (WME), has been appointed chief executive officer of YouTube artist development label PopShack.

PopShack, which was set up in 2013, partners with new and emerging YouTube artists to build their profiles. The network already accounts for over 2.2m subscribers and reaches over eight million music fans.

New talents such as Daniel J, Mary Desmond, Elyar Fox and Laura Zocca are among the artists to work with the business.

In his post, Conrad is to continue his alliance with Warner Music UK, which began in 2006. PopShack will act as a consultant on a series of new projects with East West Records and existing WME signings including Hugh Laurie and the Overtones.

Conrad said: ‘YouTube has become the number one network for music discovery across the globe and the PopShack business is focused on finding and developing a new generation of ‘native’ artists breaking via the platform.

‘I am thrilled to be partnering with Warner and particularly Dan Chalmers and the East West and ADA teams on this and other innovative new projects going forward.’
