The Comet is Coming, a Mercury Prize nominated jazz outfit, will be performing a special piece as part of the ChatsFest in London’s East End.
Taking place on 10 September, the event is a celebration of Clapton and the local community. It will be returning in 2016 for the fourth consecutive year.
Alongside various arts and entertainment, The Dentist event space has curated the live stage with the Comet is Coming. The PRS for Music Foundation funded work will see the group collaborate with poet and spoken word artist Joshua Idehen (Benin City) and audio-visual artist Niall Trask (Flamingods).
The stage will also feature sets from the Ezra Collective and Family Atlantica.
One of the organisers, and local resident, Allan Parker, said: ‘I was born and bred in Hackney and this festival very much represents everything I love about this community. The different generations and cultures, all coming together to create something positive, it makes me very proud to be from this area.
‘ChatsFest has grown immensely over the three years but has kept the community at its heart. The street is heaving, just like it was in the 80s when the festival first started.’
