Veteran rockers Black Sabbath are to receive the Classic Rock Living Legends Award.
The band will join the likes of Jimmy Page, Alice Cooper and ZZ Top in receiving the prize from the publication.
Black Sabbath - which features frontman Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler - will collect their prize at an awards ceremony at London’s Roundhouse on 14 November.
Frontman Ozzy Osbourne said: ‘It’s good to be a living legend. It’s better than being a dead one.’
Chris Ingham, publisher of Classic Rock, said: ‘We're delighted to welcome Black Sabbath to collect our Living Legend Award. It's wholly deserved as not only do they have a career to celebrate, but Ozzy, Geezer and Tony blasted back with a brilliant new album in 2013 that reminded us all how it should be done.’
Black Sabbath have enjoyed a great year so far after their album 13 topped the charts. The album gave them the record for the longest gap between number one albums. They last reached number one in 1970 with their second album Paranoid.
As well as receiving the living legends award, Sabbath will compete against the likes of Iron Maiden, The Rolling Stones, and Status Quo for the band of the year title at the Classic Rock Awards. They've also been shortlisted for album of the year and event of the year
