PRS for Music staff voted Arctic Monkeys AM as their top album of the year, according to new research.

The Sheffield band topped the poll with Immunity by Jon Hopkins in second and Random Access Memories by Daft Punk rounding off the top three.

Daft Punk’s Get Lucky was voted the top song of the year with Arctic Monkeys this time in second place with Do I Wanna Know? Merchandise’s Winter Dream, Bastille with Pompeii and Open Eye Signal by Jon Hopkins made up the rest of the top five.

Elsewhere in the results, the Stone Roses and their performance at Finsbury Park earlier this year made top gig with Merchandise taking second place.

Further findings from the study revealed the listening habits of respondents with the majority choosing a variety of physical, download and streaming platforms.

Among the 59 percent that listened exclusively through one type, almost half were fully subscribed to streaming. Physical also performed strongly, claiming 38 percent of the natives, with many people choosing vinyl as their preferred format.

A total of 135 different albums were chosen in the poll.
