The Association of British Orchestras (ABO) and PRS Foundation have opened applications for Resonate, a fund set up to encourage orchestras to programme the best British classical music compositions from the past 25 years.
Support of up to £10,000 is now available to British orchestras who want to rehearse, programme, tour or promote a piece of music from the Resonate database.
The initiative is a partnership with the ABO and BBC Radio 3, aimed at inspiring orchestras to revisit pieces which would potentially strengthen their contemporary repertoire programming.
According to the PRS Foundation, ‘support will be given to orchestras who can demonstrate a commitment to presenting high quality contemporary British repertoire which will promote the Resonate brand as part of a season, tour and longer term audience development programme’.

Recipients in the first year of the initiative included Thomas Ades’ In Seven Days, Judith Weir’s Winter Song and Gavin Higgins’ Velocity.
The Resonate concert series begins with David Sawer’s The Greatest Happiness Principle which is to be performed by the BBC Philharmonic at the Proms on Saturday 29 July.
