PRS Foundation has announced the latest recipients of its Composers’ Fund.

Launched by PRS Foundation in 2016, the fund offers grants of up to £15,000 to support and enable composers to realise projects and ambitions that may not be possible through traditional commissioning models.

The three latest recipients of the fund are Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres (who will use her grant to work on the creation of a new album), Daniel Kidane (who is set to begin work on the composition of his debut opera) and Rushil Ranjan (who will tour and perform his new work Shikwa).

Elizabeth Sills, Grants & Programmes Manager at PRS Foundation, said of the news: 'Congratulations to Alexandra, Daniel and Rushil for being selected to receive our Composers’ Fund in this latest round. This targeted and timely support, which provides direct grants to composers who are ready to develop their careers to the next level, remains incredibly vital in today’s uncertain times.

'I look forward to following the progress of each of the composers and their exciting new music projects.'

Daniel added: 'In today’s austere funding climate, PRS Foundation continues to be a beacon for composers and a force for good in assisting creatives at crucial points in their careers.'

The next deadline to apply for support from the Composers’ Fund is 9 October 2023, with submissions set to open in September. Applicants should check the PRS Foundation website, which you can find here, for further details about the fund.
