Paul Pacifico, Association of Independent Music (AIM) chief executive, joins the Creative Industries Federation (CIF) and vows to champion 'the power of independent music'.

The CIF is a national organisation for the UK’s creative industries, cultural education and arts, providing an authoritative voice for the fastest growing sector of the economy.

With a membership of more than a thousand companies, organisations, institutions and individuals working across creative industries and education system, the CIF is a wholly independent body.

It engages with politicians and at every level of government, from national departments in Westminster and the devolved nations, to metro mayors, city leader and local authorities, to support and champion the growth of Britain's creative industries.

Spanning advertising and architecture to video games, music performance and publishing, as well as all the creative disciplines recognised in official statistics such as heritage, the creative industries are worth £91.8bn Gross Value Added (GVA) to the economy.

Pacifico said: ‘CIF has a unique voice that brings together representatives from across Britain’s diverse and exciting creative industries. I am delighted to have this incredible opportunity to represent music and more specifically the entrepreneurs in the creative sector at the highest level ensuring that these dynamic self-starters who are responsible for so much value are properly empowered, recognised and supported.’

John Kampfner, chief executive of CIF, added: ‘We are delighted to welcome Paul as our newest board member. Paul represents all that is best in the UK independent music industry and we look forward to working with him to ensure the country's creative music voice is heard loud and clear.’
