2018 Classic BRIT Awards shortlist revealed

Tokio Myers, Alfie Boe, Alexander Armstrong and Beverley Knight are among the diverse talent shortlisted for the Classic BRIT Awards 2018.

Tokio Myers, Alfie Boe, Alexander Armstrong and Beverley Knight are among the diverse talent shortlisted for the Classic BRIT Awards 2018.

Myers, who rose to fame on the TV show Britain’s Got Talent, is nominated in three categories; Male Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Album of the Year.

Boe along with collaborator Michael Ball, received two nods, in the Group of the Year and Album of the Year categories.

Bass baritone, Classic FM presenter and TV personality Armstrong is shortlisted for the Male Artist of the Year and Album of the Year accolades for his Christmas album In a Winter Light.

Knight has been recognised in the Album category also, for Leading Ladies Songs from the Stage.

Other PRS for Music members also in the running include The Ayoub Sisters in the Group of the Year category, Jools Holland, in the Group and Classic Album categories.

Elsewhere, Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and David Fleming have been shortlisted in the Soundtrack of the Year category for Blue Planet II. Here, they tell us how they composed it.

And centenarian singer Dame Vera Lynn will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The ceremony, which returns for the first time in five years, takes place on 13 June at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
