We chat to folk artist Johnny Flynn about his experience at SXSW 2010, including the culinary delights...

What was the highlight of your trip to SXSW last year?
Mexican food.

What did you get out of going to SXSW?
We sorted out the American distribution for our new record ('Been Listening') and got to have fun playing shows as a band.

What difference did it make to your profile at home and overseas?
If you can't afford to tour America much like us, then going to SXSW at least means that a lot of people from around the USA come for the week and get to see you play. As it's primarily an industry festival - people that can help you out with stuff from home and abroad get to see you.

How does SXSW differ from other industry showcases?
It's the biggest, and it's hot, and there's Mexican food. I really like fish tacos.

What would be your tips to building up a following and buzz about your act?
Be yourself. Ruthlessly. I don't care to do anything else.
