Welcome to this week’s playlist. This week, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cambridge Folk Festival taking place this weekend, we’re showcasing the best of folk.
Our playlist features some of the artists to have graced the stages of the event over the years as well as more contemporary acts working within the genre.
So alongside seminal cuts from the likes of Bert Jansch and Ry Cooder we’re also proffering newer tunes from Fleet Foxes, Midlake and Beth Orton.
This year’s event takes place 31 July - 3 August with Van Morrison headlining the final night of the event. Sinead O’Connor will offer a rare live performance in the same slot tonight (Friday 1 August).
