This week’s playlist celebrates the start of World Cup season in Brazil, when football fans around the world start daydreaming about their country lifting that small 18 carat gold trophy.

Our opening salvo is Mas Que Nada, a cheeky little sixties cut from Tamba Trio that encapsulates the golden era of Brazilian bossa nova and has since become synonymous with the beautiful game.

Next, we get stuck in to a bunch of tunes that fuse together Brazilian vibes with hip-hop rhythms. You’ll find Canto De Ossanha by Jurassic 5, among other beaty treats.

But we couldn't ignore some early classics from Elvis and Sinatra - believe it or not they both cut some seriously groovy Latin tracks in their time. Then the obligatory Seu Jorge track follows, in the form of Carolina - a great original song which boasts an amazing horn section.

Our selection ends with Svensk Sas, a track from Todd Terje’s debut album, which was released in April. He does a great job of taking all the elements of samba and transposing them onto a dubby soundsystem backdrop.

We hope you enjoy this week's tunes and wish you the best of luck, whichever team you're rooting for!
