AGP is the technicolour brainchild of Liverpool songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Gordon Parry.

Teaming up with Daniel Martindale (Danye), Alastair Dunn (AJHD) and Michael Paul Metcalfe (Dead Hedge Trio), he transmits hazy sonic distortions and soundchip melodies from another era.

AGP’s shimmering shoegaze has already shared the stage with The Orb, Deptford Goth, James Holden and Julia Holter, while an upcoming show at Manchester’s Ruby Lounge on Sunday will see the quartet warm up for The View.

Their latest release, the ace double A side Hollywood/Motionsickness, landed last month through War Room Records, home to By The Sea. Blending enough wobbly guitar riffs and reverb-drenched vocals, it gives Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox a run for his money.

Here, main man Andrew lets us in on the songs that are currently tickling his ears….

Childish Gambino - Redbone
His first album was ace but his new album is an incredible contrast and just sounds really unique.

Rongorongo - Driven
Driven is my favourite song from their last EP. They're a sick band from Liverpool and I really enjoy being on the same label as them, War Room Records. Can’t wait to see what they do next.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Multi Love
l love how melodic this is, it kind of reminds me of Queen for some reason.

Alessi Brothers - Seabird
Such a classic track, with quality harmonies.

Happyness - Falling Down
I love the intro and how the drums enter. Their whole new album is ace.

Infinite Bisous - The Past Tense
Dream music with a super melody and really intriguing vocal effects.

Perfume Genius - Hood
I'm just obsessed with everything he's doing at the moment, his vocals are incredible and the songwriting is brilliant.

The Velvet Underground - I Found a Reason
I think this is the most beautiful love song ever written.

ELO - Strange Magic
ELO are one of my favourite bands. This song stands out for me, that or Telephone Line.

GUM – Growin’ Up
The lyrics are really good, and the song travels well.
